Christina Mackay
Co-Founder and Managing Partner
Christina was a Management Consultant for 8 years with EY living in New York and London. She worked with entrepreneurs to help them grow their businesses. She specialised in Strategy and Program Management.
Christina has a MBA from Cambridge University. She was Speaker Liaison for The Cambridge Union. Poets & Quants named her as an, “MBA to watch”. She is the recipient of Cambridge University Entrepreneurs Social Enterprise Award. Christina performed in a play at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2016. Christina has delivered masterclasses at The University of Oxford on funding and valuing a start-up. She has a Law degree and a CIMA certificate in Business Accounting. Christina has trekked on Mt Everest, on Mount Kilimanjaro and on the Inca Trail.
Tom Mackay
Co-Founder and Chairman
Tom is a corporate/commercial lawyer with considerable international and financial services experience. Tom has about 40 years’ experience as a Solicitor mainly as a partner in international law firms in the City. He was Head of Legal Department at the London Stock Exchange at a time when it also carried out much of the regulatory function now carried out by the FCA and was also Head of Legal Department at 3i plc at a time when it grew to be the biggest VC in Europe. For many years he was a partner in Curtis, a law firm headquartered in New York with 14 offices in 10 jurisdictions, where he often acted for government entities around the world. In 2011 he established Mackay Carter Shaw LLP. As well as having a law degree and an MBA Tom also has a qualification as a Certified Hedge Fund Professional.
Tom has acted as the main legal adviser to AKJ for about 15 years and became General Counsel with the introduction of the AKJ Accelerator hedge fund platform.
